The Green Bay Packers select Duke OL Jacob Monk. Brian Gutekunst pulled off his second trade of Day 3 in the fifth round. The Packers moved up five spots to pick number 163. The Duke offensive lineman is the second lineman offensive taken by the Packers in this draft.

The Packers sent pick 168 and pick 219 to the Buffalo Bills in this trade. Monk was a five year starter at Duke. He started several games at center, right guard, and right tackle. Monk is another versatile piece to the Packers offensive line room.

Jacob Monk stands tall at 6’3 and weighs 308 pounds. He was a two time team captain at Duke. In 343 snaps, last season Monk only allowed one sack. It is likely Monk will play more on the interior of the offensive line for the Packers.

Jacob Monk is the Newest Packer

Monk is a versatile player who can play all over the line. As a true freshman in 2019, he started at right tackle. The following two seasons Monk started at right guard. Then, he finished the last two seasons with a start at both right guard and center. Monk has a 9.74 RAS score but does appear to lack some strength.

Monk is praised for his foot quickness and football IQ. Smart offensive linemen is always a good thing to have on the roster.

Jacob Monk will provide the Packers with plenty of depth. He can play multiple positions which the Packers like in their linemen.
